If May was one of the worst months I’ve had in a while, June has brought some much needed quietness. I still had some hiccups along the way, but overall it was a much better month.
My dog Kyara is still here with me, alive and kicking. She made an amazing recovery. She’s never going to heal from her heart problem since it is chronic and progressive, however she can live a comfortable life, however long or short it may be. She decided it was a fun idea to scare me last week by having shortness of breath. Turns out it was just some nasal inflammation. She’s better now after some medication.
On another note, I’m no longer jobless! I found a part-time job at a local supermarket. That will be my stable source of income for the time being. That will allow me to keep developing my business without having to worry about starving (and make my pets starve, I was honestly more worried about that). Is it a dream job? Not really. But there are certainly worse ones out there. And it is certainly better than being without a stable source of income.
In between vet visits, looking after Kyara, job hunting, and the online classes I was taking, I had very little time to work on any art at all this past month. I managed to write a letter last week, where I talked about how art materials are meant to be used, and how you need to waste them in order to learn the craft. If you missed it, you can read it here.
I also worked a little bit on that deer drawing I shared in last month’s update, but not a lot. Color pencils are already a slow medium. Now mix that with little time to work on art, and you end up with making very slow progress. But slow progress is still progress.
I actually made a video about making time for art a while back. I feel it is something people complain a lot about, and honestly some use it as an excuse to not create as often as they could.
That’s it for this month, I think. I’ll see you again next month for the monthly update, and maybe halfway there for a letter. Take care until then.
